How High Can a Drone Fly And What Are They Made For?

A drone is a small crewless aircraft that is remotely controlled either by a person or by a programmed automated software and GPS. Drones are used widely for various activities across many fields.

For easy navigation, drones require a good GPS and camera. There are different kinds of cameras that can fit into the drones depending on the use. For more information on cameras for drones, you can read up customer feedbacks on Park Camera Products. Also, if you plan on building a drone for whatever purpose, it is advisable to do a thorough research before purchasing a camera, and other electronic devices you may need. This is very essential because a drone is only as good as the complementary electronic devices and camera products.

How High Can a Drone Really Fly

Just like any other aircrafts, drones have rules which guide their flight. One of the vital ones is that drones aren’t allowed to fly above an altitude of 400ft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Although drones can fly above this altitude, because there has been news of drones flying up to 11,000 feet , although the 400 feet rule stands.  The reason for this  is because  human-crewed aircraft, especially, the helicopter fly as low as 500ft, so a gap of 100ft is required to avoid possibilities of accidents and frequency issues.

Uses of Drones

Drones were first made for military purposes, but over the years they have been made for a variety of uses. Here are some of the current uses of a drone as we have come to know it.

Remote Sensing and Aerial Surveillance

Drones in this category are designed to have sensors or carry pieces of equipment that can detect changes, objects, or people in an area. Examples of the sensors are high-resolution cameras for surveillance, biological sensors, heat sensors and other technologies in remote sensing. This cuts across different fields from agriculture, geography, archaeology, criminology, Law enforcement, etc.

Aerial Photography and Filmmaking

A lot of movie scenes shot from a high altitude are now done with the aid of drones. This began in 2014 when the  FAA granted six film studios the right to use drones in filmmaking, after the Motion Picture Association petitioned the FAA. Since then, drones have brought about a significant change in the film industry; Aerial pictures and videos of a whole landmark can now be taken quickly without the expenses and stress of a human-crewed aircraft. And these are the cradle of the wonders of drones that we are yet to witness.

Fishing

Drones can be used to fish. Sensors worked into drones enhance this possibility. In fishing, drones can be used to locate areas with a lot of fish so you can focus on fishing in that particular area of the water. Drones can also be used to drop the bait to catch fish, then, the user can easily row to the spot to pull out the fish. The drone, depending on the capacity, can also be used to pull out the fish, as well.

Drones are yet to be rampant in a lot of countries because of legislation, privacy and security issues. However, this is beginning to change as more fields and people are embracing the use of drones. Over time drones would become another vehicle we see as part of our lives – like cars, bicycles and the airplane.
